Hannah Duke is a Baton Rouge native whose passion for public policy began in high school, where she worked for the governmental affairs group, Duke Firm, Inc. She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science in two and a half years with honors from Louisiana State University through their expedited 3+3 Pre-Law program. During this time, she gained valuable federal-level experience interning for Congressman Garret Graves at his local and DC office, focusing on disaster relief and insurance legislation. Specifically, Ms. Duke was able to assist victims of the ‘2016-thousand-year flood’ and develop policies with the Congressman to expedite disaster recovery relief and insurance issues.
Having received early acceptance from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law School Ms. Duke returned home from Capitol Hill to earn her Juris Doctorate and Comparative Law Degrees from the University. A few of Ms. Duke’s achievements include being a Dean’s Scholar, Frank A. Schreck Gaming Law Moot Court Team Leader, Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition Best Brief Recipient, Board of Advocates member, and recipient of numerous scholarships.
Following graduation and admission to the Louisiana Bar, Ms. Duke founded Duke Law Firm, LLC, specializing in property law, disaster recovery, government contracting, and insurance. Ms. Duke also serves as Vice President of Duke Firm Inc. and leverages her extensive experience in both public and private sectors at the state and federal level, as well as her robust legal knowledge to develop effective, tailored strategies for clients’ needs to succeed.
Some of her governmental affairs clients include, the Entertainment Software Association, Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, LA Manufactured Housing Association, LA Surplus Lines Association, the LA Academy of Audiology, LA Recyclers’ Association, LA Physicians for Patients, and LA Recreational Vehicle Association.
Beyond her legal and government affairs practice, Ms. Duke is actively involved in the community as a board of directors’ member and chairwoman of the Governance Committee for the Iris Domestic Violence Center. From her work with Iris, the Center has doubled in size in two years and established “Sylvia’s Safe Haven,” a transitional housing program named after her late grandmother, providing vital support services for victims to transition into safe and thriving lives. Ms. Duke will continue her passion of serving the community and addressing disaster relief, by to serving as the Vice President, Treasurer, and Director of the Foundation for Community Resilience.
