Liam is an experienced business leader with over 30 years’ experience shaping and implementing transformative solutions which deliver innovation and improved performance in both public and private sectors.
With a career spanning management consulting, government services, Public-Private Partnerships, and Silicon Valley software companies and start-ups, Liam brings a unique perspective to executive leadership and solution design with his breadth of experience in urban and civil engineering design, water & wastewater utilities and infrastructure, integrated transportation, defense and national security, land planning and environmental science, and political and community engagement.
He is practiced in applying rapid prototyping with emerging technologies and methodologies to solve real-world problems and has been an early adopter in incorporating web, mobile, open source, business intelligence, data analytics, visualization, and cloud technologies into enterprise solutions.
Liam was born and grew up in Hobart, Tasmania, and has a Bachelor of Surveying with Honours from the University of Tasmania, with a double major in land and civil engineering surveying and computer science with a focus on geospatial information systems (GIS). His post-graduate work focused on Antarctic climate science and measuring environmental impact in other remote locations, such as Kakadu National Park.
After graduation and a stint as an analyst at Telstra, he worked at small specialist software consulting companies in Australia and UK developing a high level of expertise in spatial analysis and business intelligence. He continued to develop his leadership experience and consulting expertise with organizations including PA Consulting Group, Serco, Autodesk, and Robbins-Gioia.
A trained cartographer and photogrammetrist, he is still an enthusiast about all kinds of maps and graphical analysis and their application in solving the world’s compelling challenges
